Discover just how captivating Provence can be. Walk through the countryside that inspired so many impressionist painters, from Cézanne to van Gogh, to capture it all on canvas.

The crème de la crème of walking territory. Choose from two walk options daily, ranging from short walks in villages and through vineyards and gardens to longer hikes amid the gorges and mountains of Provence’s famous landscape. Past-perfect. Explore with Stanford history professor Carolyn Lougee and walk host Peter Watson the vast Palais des Papes in Avignon, the Roman town of Glanum, medieval Arles and the Romans’ massive Pont du Gard aqueduct.
