The purpose of the club shall be to build connections amongst Stanford First-Generation and/or Low-Income (FLI) alumni and to our university via a national leadership team. The club will support national and regional events as well as virtual forums, lectures, and other offerings to inform, engage, and connect alumni. The following sections refer to the organization and structure of the national team.

Empower a strong community of first-generation and/or low-income alumni in contributing to our advancement, establishing a respected voice on Stanford’s campus, and leveraging our experiences to enable us to thrive in any environment and leave a legacy of which we can be proud.

We connect, inspire, support, advocate for and celebrate all first-generation and/or low-income (FLI) alumni while cultivating substantive relationships within the Stanford community and highlighting the experiences, perspectives, and achievements of Stanford FLI alumni.

Belonging – We hold dear the sense of belonging that exists within the Stanford FLAN community. Stanford was so different from where many of us grew up that finding a connection with each other in this diverse community is integral to our well-being.

Accessibility – We ensure this group is accessible to each and every person that identifies with, advocates for, or falls under the umbrella of the first-generation and/or low-income community at Stanford.

Perseverance – We highlight and celebrate the perseverance, strength, and resilience in our alumni and inspire future generations to have these qualities and show them they can be successful.

Impact – We strive to be impactful and make a positive difference in the lives of first-generation and/or low-income (FLI) alumni, future FLI generations and Stanford itself.

Synergy – We exhibit strength as a group in many more ways than we are able to by ourselves.

Growth – We encourage the continued growth of the group, individuals, students, and alumni in their personal, educational and professional lives.
