Please join us for a virtual wine tasting featuring Wente wines! Eric Wente '73, Stanford alumnus and 4th generation winemaker in California, will be presenting a series of his winery’s Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. This event will be on Saturday, September 19th at 4pm, hosted on Zoom.

Our virtual tasting will be in two parts. The first part will be a “horizontal” tasting of Wente’s four Chardonnays. Eric Wente will lead us through tasting the differences and similarities among the different styles of wine making across four of their Chardonnays: Morning Fog Chardonnay, Single Vineyard Riva Ranch Chardonnay, Small Lot Eric’s Chardonnay, and Nth Degree Chardonnay. The second part of the tasting will be two styles of Pinot Noir, Niki’s Pinot Noir Rose and Single Vineyard Riva Ranch Pinot Noir, giving us further insight on how the same grape can be used to create varied tasting experiences.

About the Format

This will be a virtual wine tasting, and the wine will be provided for pickup at one of two locations starting the day prior to the event. Your wine tasting kit will include two ounce pours of each of the six wines, as well as a key to which bottle is which. The presentation itself will be on Zoom and you will have a chance to ask Eric any questions you may have during the course of the tasting. Details for the pickup times and locations as well as the Zoom links and tasting notes will be emailed to participants prior to the event.

About Wente

Wente Vineyards is the oldest continuously-operated, family-owned winery in the country. The wines are 100% estate grown and sustainably farmed in the Livermore Valley, San Francisco Bay and Arroyo Seco, Monterey appellations. The winery is owned and managed by the fourth and fifth generations of the Wente family, who is recognized for their influence in making Chardonnay the best-selling varietal in the country, based on numerous accomplishments over the past 130 years. The development of the Wente clone spread to thousands of vineyards across California and the winery was the first to introduce a varietally-labeled California Chardonnay. The Wente family is proud to be recognized as “California’s First Family of Chardonnay.”
