In the year before Donald Trump was elected president, Jordan Blashek MBA 16, a Republican Marine, and Chris Haugh, a Democrat from Berkeley, meet at Yale Law and form an unlikely friendship. They decide to hit the road in search of reasons to strengthen their bond in an era of strife and partisanship. In Union: A Democrat, A Republican, and A Search for Common Ground, named a New York Times "New and Noteworthy" book, Chris and Jordan chronicle their journey to forty-four states and along nearly twenty thousand miles of road to discover where the American experiment stands today.  A road narrative, a civics lesson, and a window into a powerful friendship, Union promises readers an answer to one of the most pressing questions of our time: How far apart are we, really?

The conversation will be moderated by Ty Kim '86, a multi-Emmy award winning television journalist,  producer and documentary filmmaker.
