Shelley Ring Diamond, M.A. Communication ‘78, teaches writing to incarcerated teen girls at L.A.’s Central Juvenile Hall. Those lessons mirror in a striking way, the experience that we, the privileged and free, now live - psychologically and physically.

Incarcerated teenagers write about how they’ll cope with life outside their walls; keeping away from trouble. Our angle on that theme is: What stresses or new ways of living will you deal with upon your release? Shelley will share other lessons from Juvie that resonate with current experience, and examples of the wonderful work that comes from her class.

To learn more about Shelley's work, please read her Stanford Magazine article, "What I Learned From 6 Incarcerated Teen Girls".
