We're happy to announce the start of Stanford Pride Culture Club! Culture Club's goal is to highlight LGBTQ+ books and media and to create a space for pride members to connect with each other and discuss the content. Since many of us are currently sheltering in place we've selected 2 inaugural picks with virtual discussions scheduled for May and June (more to come).

Our first selection for May is the movie Rafiki directed by Wanuri Kahiu. The movie premiered at Cannes in 2018 and the plot focuses on two women who  "Despite the political rivalry between their families, the girls resist and remain close friends, supporting each other to pursue their dreams in a conservative society. When love blossoms between them, the two girls will be forced to choose between happiness and safety." The move is available to stream for free on Kanopy with many library memberships.

***Watch the movie on your own, then join us for a lively conversation about the film and its meaning.
