Join fellow alumni to discuss a new guide on refocusing on the real world. In How to Do Nothing: Resisting the Attention Economy, the artist, writer and Stanford professor Jenny Odell questions what we perceive as "productive" — and invites readers to redirect their attention towards their surroundings as a path back to being fully human.

How to Do Nothing was named one of the best books of 2019 by The New Yorker, NPR, GQ, Fortune, and the New York Public Library. President Barack Obama named it one of his "Favorite Books of 2019."

As part of the conversation, the book club will view video clips from Odell's recent talk about her book at Google. Join your fellow alumni for a discussion about what is happening to our attention, and how we can do or say something meaningful at the end of each day.
