On The Trail of the Whale - Stanford Travel Went to Tonga to Snorkel with Humpbacks!

Humpback whales travel thousands of miles each year from polar feeding grounds to tropical breeding grounds.  Their recovering population numbers have made them a regular part of reef communities from Hawaii to Australia.  A Stanford travel group jumped into the crystal waters of Tonga in August 2018 to view the whales there, hear their songs, watch moms and calves, and learn about the way that whales traverse the world.

Come hear Steve Palumbi, Stanford faculty leader on this trip and Professor of Biology at Hopkins Marine Station show vidoes of the whales and how reefs like this are faring in this time of change.

Wine, appetizers, and desserts will be served at a 6:30 reception with Professor Palumbi before the talk begins at 7:15 p.m.
