How Understanding Probability Helps Us Make Better Decisions

Although we make daily decisions, many people base them on initial reactions or gut feelings. However, powerful frameworks exist for making more effective decisions by analyzing available choices and their possible outcomes. Learn how to make better decisions and also understand why people sometimes make seemingly reasonable, yet irrational, decisions. 

Speaker Bio: Mehran Sahami, '92, MS '93, PhD '99, is a professor of computer science and the associate chair for education in computer science. Additionally, he’s the Robert and Ruth Halperin University Fellow in Undergraduate Education. An award-winning instructor, he enjoys teaching a variety of courses in computer science, including CS106A: Programming Methodology, which often has more than 600 students enrolled. Professor Sahami has also served as a Resident Fellow and taught in the Sophomore College program.
