All Stanford alumni are invited to join the Asian Pacific American community for the musical Vietgone, a new comedy from one of American theater’s most innovative and lauded new playwrights. Written by Qui Nguyen, Vietgone spins a modern twist on the classic boy-meets-girl story: Quang and Tong are refugees fleeing the Vietnam War, who hook up and fall in love in a relocation camp in Arkansas. Bold, and fearless, Vietgone takes audiences on a hilariously rip-roaring ride across 1970s America with a hot soundtrack that serves up hip-hop, sass, and revolution.

We are especially excited to view this production at the historic downtown LA theater named after Stanford alum and preeminent Asian American playwright, David Henry Hwang, '79. Founded in 1965, when APIs faced limited or no opportunities to see their experiences reflected outside of stereotypical and demeaning caricatures in the American landscape, East West Players ensures that API stories are told and works to increase access, inclusion, and representation in the economy.

A pre-show mixer with wine and appetizers will be in the theater courtyard from 7 to 8pm. The show will start at 8pm. After the show, we are invited to stay for a talkback with members of the cast.
