The World Is Flat, and other Alternative Facts: Facts, Science and Making Policy
Policy-making should be based on accurate information, and policy-makers should be well-informed and understand the context of facts and events central to the issues at hand. However, the increasing prominence of so-called fake news and alternative facts prevent thoughtful and honest consideration of vital policy discussion. In this talk, we will discuss several contemporary policy-making issues that depend on the distinct separation of fact and fiction: climate change and the environment, campus sexual assault policy, and immigration.

4:00 - 4:30 p.m. reception

4:30 - 5:30 p.m. presentation
