Please join Stanford Law School Professor Jane S. Schacter for a conversation on the state of LGBTQ rights in America.  The past year has been marked by pushback against recent gains by the LGBTQ community.  From President Trump’s proposed ban on transgender servicemembers to the pending case before the United States Supreme Court involving a baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple, issues confronting the LGBTQ community abound.  Professor Schacter is a leading national expert on statutory interpretation and legislative process, constitutional law, and sexual orientation law.  Her work has been published in numerous law journals, and she co-edits casebooks on constitutional law and sexual orientation law.  Her most recent work has focused on various aspects of the debate over same-sex marriage, an issue that lies at the intersection of her teaching and research interests.
