They've Gone Down in History
HEAR THOSE TRUMPETS? We present the eight new members of Stanford's Athletic Hall of Fame:
Jessica Mendoza, '02, softball. Four-time All-American, two-time Olympian and holder of multiple school records (including batting average and home runs).
Ellen Estes, '02, water polo. A key player on the first NCAA championship team for the women's program and two-time Olympian.
Brad Hauser, '00, cross country and track and field. Won five NCAA titles, including the outdoor 5,000 and 10,000 meters in his final season.
Larissa Fontaine, '99, gymnastics. First individual NCAA champ for the women's program (vault); also remembered for creating a bars dismount dubbed "The Fontaine."
Meredith McGrath, '93, tennis. All-American in 1990.
Ron George, '92, football. A 1992 All-American who went on to eight seasons in the NFL.
Misty Hyman, '01, swimming. Dominant Stanford career followed by gold medal in the 200 butterfly at the 2000 Olympics.
Dan Hanan, '90, volleyball. First three-time first-team All-American for men's program.
