Another great year for SWCEB!

On Friday, May 17th, our annual spring luncheon featured Stanford Professor Thomas Mullaney.  His topic was Demystifying Modern China.  His talk covered major historical events in China in the last 300 years.  He stayed long after the talk answering questions and sharing his extensive knowledge of China and its history.  This was the final event for our 2013-2014 year.  Please plan on joining us next year for more club events!

The audience members at the Orinda Library on Friday, April 5th heard Dr.
Arlene Blum, founder and Executive Director of the Green Science Policy Institute in Berkeley speak about toxic chemicals applied to our furniture and homes.  It was a very informative evening.  We are hoping that her work leads to new state regulations this summer, which would eliminate these toxic chemicals from our furnishings.

Our annual Day on Campus  was a huge success.  We went to the d.school for a sample workshop designed to inspire our creativity, and a student-guided tour of this innovative multidisciplinary educational hub. Afterwards, Professor David Kelley, featured on CBS’s 60 Minutes and the cover story of the March/April 2011 issue of Stanford Magazine, spoke and answered questions.

Look for our club renewal membership notices in August 2013 for the 2013-2014 year. You will be able to join
or renew your membership by clicking Join Group.  Connection with our Club and with Stanford creates opportunities for continued learning, networking and fun!  Spouses, partners, and friends are welcomed at all of our events.
